The county seat of Grimes County is historic Anderson, Texas, a tiny but thriving community. Ten miles away at the crossroads of Highway 90, Highway 6, and Highway 105, is the bustling city of Navasota, the largest community within Grimes County, population about 6,500. Navasota, known as the “Blues Capital of Texas” is merely 10 miles from the birthplace of Texas, Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park. Other communities within Grimes County include the historic towns of Plantersville and Stoneham; Todd Mission, home of the Texas Renaissance; the newest incorporated City of Bedias; Iola, Richards, Shiro and Roans Prairie.
